Feature request: Using text / email verification codes to create online account for appointments
I wanted to bring up an issue we’ve encountered with the Core Practice online booking system at our dental practice. Right now, patients have to create an account and password to book an appointment. However, we've received feedback from returning patients who often forget their passwords, leading to error codes and a frustrating booking experience.
While there’s an option to reset the password via email, it’s a bit of a hassle. Some patients don’t receive the email, or it ends up in their junk folder. It’s just more steps than most people want to deal with, especially when they’re just trying to schedule an appointment.
I think a better solution would be to implement an alternative login option with a 6-digit SMS verification code sent to patient for booking appointments. This would allow patients—both new and returning—to receive a code via text, enter it, and complete their booking without the need for a password. It’s a feature I’ve seen used in other PMS systems, and it seems to work really well, especially considering how many passwords people are expected to remember these days.

Hi Team Nundah Central Dental Clinic,
Thank you for submitting your feedback and suggestion regarding the online booking system. Patient logins are required by the system for security purposes and to prevent spam and fraudulent bookings.
We understand that this might not be ideal for some patients, but it is primarily in place to secure the platform. We appreciate your concern and for also considering your patients’ experience, as the online booking system is designed to make scheduling appointments with your clinic more convenient.
Your suggestion to confirm appointments through SMS verification is an excellent idea. This could also significantly save patients' time, making the process of booking an appointment much more efficient. I will make sure your suggestion is forwarded to our development team for further review and consideration.
Thank you again for taking the time to provide this valuable feedback.
