Improvement: Patient Address mail merge field and overall update to the capabilities of the Letters feature
CompletedSubmitted by user Tony Appleton:
"Just been creating standard letters and wonder if you could make the patient address fields available in the templates - really need to insert patient address into referral letters for example."

Hi Tony,
Thanks for reaching out! I think that would make a great addition to our letter designer! It would be really handy to include patient addresses, as it would make it easier to create referral letters, as well as snail mail recalls (for those Community members that still like the personal touch!). I have escalated this request to our project management system to be implemented in a future update. Thanks again!

Hi Angelo - looking at templates again and as well as expanding the accessible fields we would like control over fonts, font sizes, margin positions and pagination. On screen the template looks fine but when printed it is horrible - the font is too small and margins are too small. A bit more WYSIWYG is what we could do with! Thanks

Hi Tony,
Is the request to change fonts simply a nice-to-have or could it have a practical application to medical letters? I can see the value of being able to change font size, because our Community may want to increase or decrease the font size to accommodate patients/resource saving. We'll look into updating/improving the text editor that we have in Core Practice, as well as the formatting of the letters after printing.
Appreciate the feedback!

Hi all,
The team at Perio Centre have submitted a suggestion to add a DOB field into the "Patient" mail merge options. This would allow you to add a patient's DOB to your referral letters as a means of identification for that patient. We'll update our tasks and get this released alongside some of these other updates. Looking forward to implementing these changes! Thanks again, guys!

Hi all,
Thanks for your patience! In our most recent release, we've included both "Address" and "Date of Birth" into the Patient mail merge options available in your Template Designer. We have also made changes to the style of the letters being generated, in an attempt to keep the printed letter as close as possible to the generated template on your screen. We have also changed the font itself to a more modern style. The customised header and footer as still some time away, as it would take a proper overhaul of the text editor, but it's something that we'd like to build upon with future improvements.
Let us know what you think of this release!
