Periocharting
Some features that would be helpful to update for periodontal charting
1. Being able to chart a positive number in the recession line to record the gingival margin. Currently as the highest you can chart the gingival margin is inline with the CEJ this does not allow for a record of gingival swelling and can incorrectly add of the attachment loss. For example: a tooth with a 4mm pocket, this will currently auto add the attachment loss as 4mm. If this is a case with pseudoswelling then the attachment loss is incorrectly charted. In this case lets define the attachment loss as 2mm. If we could chart the gingival margin in recession as +2mm and the pocket as 4mm, the attachment loss will become 2mm, accurately charting the periodontal status of the area. Currently I find this frustrating as I cannot accurately diagnose someones periodontal status as the periochart is often over estimating their CAL.
2. Updating the options for tallying on the RHS of the periochart. Currently the clinical attachment loss is grouped into 1-6mm and 7-9mm. As the new periodontal grading and staging does not match these groupings I find this information unhelpful when diagnosing and have to manually count each ground of attachment loss to make a diagnosis. Having the option to edit the groupings would be helpful eg. 1-2mm, 3-4mm, 5mm+ would match the new staging and grading. I understand not everyone would want the data set out this way so having the option to change the setting on this would be very helpful.
