Overview
We’re excited to introduce Custom Chart Buttons — a new feature that helps make charting faster, smarter, and more personalised to your workflow.
With this feature, you can:
- Create custom actions for common treatment plans
- Adjust chart buttons to fit your clinical needs
- Make the charting interface more intuitive and efficient
This update is designed to save time, reduce repetitive work, and support the way you practice.
This article will guide you on how to use:
Operation Management
Create custom operations for common treatment plans — add new ones, group treatments together, and manage them easily. Steps below will show you how to create an operation.
- On the upper right, click the Cog Icon and select Settings. If you don’t see the cog icon, please seek assistance from a user with admin access.
- Under Sales, click Operations.
- On this screen, you’ll see all existing operations. To create a new one, click the Create Operation button in the upper right.
- On this screen, you’ll need to fill in the details based on the treatment you’re creating. In this scenario, let’s say we’re creating an operation for a crown, including both the preparation and follow-up.
- After filling out the Name and Code, you’ll need to select the appropriate option under Apply Rule based on your operation.
- Dynamic Surface: Apply related items to selected surfaces
- Surface: Apply items to selected surfaces
- Full Area: Apply items to the upper, lower or full area
- Related Tooth: Apply items to the selected teeth
- Under Description, you can include the operation details to provide more context.
- When done, click the Save Changes button.
- After saving the created operation, search using the operation name and click on it.
- Click Items on the left side of the screen. Here, we can organise the item codes and the number of visits for this operation.
- Add the item code using the search. You can enter the item number or search for the treatment name.
- Clicking the three dots will give you options to arrange the visits, delete, or insert a new visit.
- Clicking the Cog Icon will give you the option to arrange or delete item codes. You can also drag and drop them onto the appropriate visit.

When done, there's no need to click the Save button, as changes are automatically saved to the created operation.
Custom Action Management
Set up chart buttons to fit your clinic’s needs. Add buttons for specific treatments, use dropdowns for common ones, arrange them easily with drag and drop, and see changes in real time.
- On the upper right, click the Cog icon and select Settings. If you don’t see the cog icon, please seek assistance from a user with admin access.
- Under Sales, click Charting Buttons.
- You can view the charting buttons by selecting a category on the left side. Choose between Treatment or Pre-existing Treatment.
- Let’s say we want to create a new charting button under Treatment. After selecting Treatment, click Create Button at the upper right.
- Fill in the details such as the name of the button and its description. In this example, we want to add a Whitening button under Treatment.

Choose your preferred Display Type.
- Action Button: Display as button e.g. Composite (Action)
- Action Dropdown: Display as dropdown e.g. RCT (Request) e.g. Veneer (Action)
- Item Dropdown: Display as dropdown, apply selected operation item into selected teeth e.g. Crown
- Select the Action Type.
- Action: Apply "Full Area", "Related Tooth", "Dynamic Surface" or "Surface" rule
- Request: Add bundle operation items into one selected tooth
- Select your preferred Operation. You can also choose the operation you created by following the steps above.
- When done, click the Save Changes button.
- After saving the button, you can see a preview of the charting buttons that will appear on the patient's profile charting.
- If you want to modify or edit the button, click it and then click the Pencil icon. You can also delete the button by clicking the Trash icon.
- You can also arrange the buttons by simply dragging and dropping them.
Specify the Area and Command for the Item
Here, you can create and modify existing item codes to best suit the area where they will be applied in charting and the associated command.
- On the upper right, click the Cog icon and select Settings. If you don’t see the cog icon, please seek assistance from a user with admin access.
- Click on Billable Items under Sales.
- On this screen, you can either modify an existing item code or create a new one. In this example, let's create a Whitening item code.
- Scroll down and, under Charting, choose the Qualify Area. The Qualify Area determines whether the item will be applied when charting in the Full Area, Related Tooth, or Dynamic Surface.
- Note: Only Full mouth, Upper, Lower is valid when operation applied rule is "Full Area". Only Upper, Lower is valid when operation applied rule is "Related Tooth".
- You can also select the Command for your item code. The command determines which icon is used when charting.

When done, click the Save Changes button.
On the patient's profile, when you go to Charting, you will now see and be able to use the charting button you created.
