Overview
The Copy Fees feature allows you to import fees from an existing fee level and schedule into another fee level.
It is important to select the correct destination and source before importing. The fee level and schedule you currently have open are the destination, while the fee level and schedule you select in the Copy Fees window are the source.
Important: The Copy Fees feature updates the fee schedule you currently have open. Selecting the wrong source schedule, particularly an empty schedule, can overwrite the fees in the destination schedule.
Understanding the import direction
Before importing fees, it is important to understand which fee level receives the fees.
| What it means | |
| Destination Fee Level | The fee level and schedule you currently have open. This is where the fees will be imported. |
| Source Fee Level | The existing fee level containing the fees ou want to import. |
| Source Fee Level Schedule | The specific schedule within the source fee level that supplies the fees |
A simpler way to remember this is:
The open fee level receives the fees. The selected source supplies them.
How to copy fees into a Fee Level
1. Open the destination Fee Level
In Fees Management, select the fee level you want to populate.
Important: Make sure you are opening the fee level that should receive the fees.
2. Open Copy fees
Click More, then select Copy Fees.
The Copy Fees window will appear.
3. Select the Source Fee Level
From Source Fee Level, select the existing fee level that contains that fees you want to copy.
Remember, the Source Fee Level supplies the fees. It is not the fee level being updated.
4. Select the Source Fee Schedule
From Source Fee Schedule, select the appropriate schedule containing the fees you want to copy.
Check the schedule’s:
- From date
- To date
- Status, such as Archived, Active, or Future.
For current feed, select the relevant Active schedule.
5. Check your selections before copying
Before proceeding, confirm that:
- The fee level you currently have open is the level you want to update.
- The selected Source Fee Level contains the fees you want to copy.
- The selected Source Fee Schedule is the correct schedule.
- The source schedule is not empty.
6. Import the fees
Once you have confirmed your selections, click Copy.
After the copy is complete, review the destination schedule and confirm that the expected fees have been added.
What to do
When you want to copy existing fees into a newly created or empty fee level:
1. Open the new fee level that you want to populate.
2. Click More , then select Copy Fees
3. Select the existing fee level containing the fees as your source.
4. Select the appropriate Source Fee Schedule.
5. Click Copy.
The fees from the selected source will be imported into the new fee level.
The key point is that the new fee level should be open first, as this is the fee level that will recieve the imported fees.
What not to do
Do not open an existing fee level containing fees and then select a newly created, empty fee level as the source.
If you import form an empty source schedule, the existing fees in the open destination schedule can be overwritten, leaving the schedule empty.
The open fee level is always the destination, while the fee level selected in the Copy Fees window is the source.
Before you click Copy
As a final check, ask:
“Is the fee level I currently have open the one that should receive these fees?
If yes, confirm that the Source Fee Level and Source Fee Schedule contain the correct fees before clicking Copy.
